1. What age groups play Pony Baseball?
Pony Baseball is for kids 13 and 14 years old. We also run a Colt Baseball program for kids 15 & 16
2. When is the Pony Baseball Season?
Our schedule is very similar that that of San Carlos Little League. We begin play in Early to Mid March and finish in Mid June. District Teams are selected for further play into July.
3. Can kids that live outside San Carlos play for San Carlos Pony Baseball?
Yes, but. San Carlos residents are always given priority. If we have open slots after all the San Carlos kids get placed on a team we will allow kids from other cities to play in our league...but they first must get written release from the Pony President in their town releasing them to play in San Carlos.
4. Can you wear metal cleats?
Yes, a majority of our players wear metal cleats, but you don't have to.
5. My child would like to play, but we cannot afford the fee. Can we still play?
Yes, we do have a scholarship fund and do everything we can to make sure money does not prevent any child from playing. Please contact the president for further information.
6. My Child is playing on a tournament team. Can he/she still play Pony Baseball?
Yes he or she can. We have had quite a few kids over the years play in multiple leagues. However, Pony Baseball does have to be your first priority when it comes to baseball during our season. We work very hard to balance our teams to create a competitive and fair playing field for all our players. When a teams best players are not there because they are playing in another league or tournament, it severely hurts their Pony team's ability to compete and is unfair to the rest of the players on the team.
7. How many games to you play and how often?
Generally we play 1 game during the week and one on Saturdays. You can also expect a 2 practices a week before the season starts and one a week once the season begins. Each team plays somewhere between 20-25 games per year including playoffs.
8. Do we play other cities?
Yes we do. In addition to playing each San Carlos team twice, we play teams from Redwood City, Belmont, Foster City, San Mateo and Millbrae. We finish the season with a San Carlos City Championship Tournament and there is talk of a League Tournament of Champions beginning this year. More details to follow.
9. Does San Carlos host a tournament?
Every year San Carlos hosts a 14yr Old Tournament held over Memorial Day Weekend. It is our primary fund raiser and we host teams from all over the bay area. It takes many volunteers to put on this tournament and all San Carlos Pony Parents are expected to pitch in and help with shopping, prep work, field work, scorekeeping, announcing and working the snack shack. If you would like to volunteer, please email me at Dan@DanRobinsonHomes.com
